update

It's been a bit since we last posted, so here's an update...
We enjoyed Valentine's Day. I appreciate some of the photos I've seen on some of your blogs. Anna got a red teapot (that matches her mixer) and a membership for both of us to the botanical gardens which are close to our house.
This past weekend, we enjoyed Anna's parents when they came to visit. We went with them to Issac and Crystal's wedding in Benton, Arkansas (sorry no photos). For those of you who don't know, Issac and Anna grew up together and I've known him through THRBC. It was great to see everyone at their wedding.

I'm still working in my Internal Medicine roation at the hospital. It's enjoyable, and I think I'm learning a good bit. The attendings are geared toward teaching, which certainly helps. Also, when I'm off, I'm really enjoying Grady. He got a bit spoiled by Dave and Pat were here (he went on at least two walks a day but we just walk him about every other day), but he's readjusted now and continues to be a source of entertainment for us. We'll try add photos soon.

Anna's at the end of her first trimester. She's hoping the morning sickness which has plagued her for the last eight weeks, will soon fade. She's continued to work three days a week per her normal schedule. A few days ago, she had an OB appointment where she heard the baby's heartbeat. She was really excited and said it made the whole experience feel more real.

We are slowly beginning to adapt to the idea of a baby coming into our lives. I bought Anna a "pregnancy journal" to write about all of the new things that come along with a new life and a new season of life. I'm trying to read through a lot of the Bible before the baby comes and look at Scriptural examples (both good and bad) of parenting. But, I'd also like to do some reading about parenting in general. Anyone have a good parenting book to recommend?

All for now

We have loved Shepherding a Child's Heart by Ted Tripp. Are you talking about that kind of book though? Or do you mean "the first year" kind of book? We've read everything we can get our hands on, so we have plenty of recommendations!

Hi Caleb and Anna! Congrats on the baby coming. I just heard! I'm a little slow sometimes.

Since your reading through the Bible learning about parents I thought of a good book we read years ago - "To The Parents Of My Grandchildren" by A Grandfather. No really - This is for real. It was printed in Hong Kong by Christian Book Room, 3rd printing 1967. You might have to do some real searching but it's well worth it. It does what your doing, covering old an new testaments.

I'll tell Ken your expecting. May the Lord bless.

Hey! My mom just gave us that book Marti recommended. I am ashamed to say that I haven't even looked at it yet. Hum...maybe I will now. Man, I have so much reading to do!
