Haiti Missions

Well, we have officially bought our tickets for our medical mission trip to Haiti starting Jan 16th! I (Anna) am excited and nervous as I have never done anything like this before. This morning when I woke up I was thinking about our hike to the remote villiage in the mountians and said to Caleb, "How am I supposed to ride a burrow with a skirt on?!". He seemed to think it would not be a problem, but he was also half asleep.

Bryson will stay here with my parents. I have prayed much about this decision and feel the Lord has confirmed it is His will for me to go, so I have to move forward and trust Him! We appreciate your prayers as we make final preparations in the next few weeks!

That's fantastic that you and Caleb will be able to serve and share this experience together! I've been meaning to ask if there are things that we could send with you (i.e. clothes, shoes, toiletries, etc...) let me know!

I think that Sarah had to ride one when they went last time. She may have some tips. Safe travels and you will be in our thoughts and prayers

Sarah- I will have to get back with you on supply needs (I should be in Lawrence next week) but I know I do need skirts if anyone is looking to get rid of some (preferable cotton or knit/comfortable for hiking).

Hi Anna,
If you need a goos hiking riding skirt, let me know.
I make, and can give the link on how to, a skirt that is very popular with Orthodox Jewish women.
I can hike up a mountain in mine, and it would work very well for riding, as it has the capability to give you more room as needed.
It only takes an hour tops to make, and does not need elastic, zippers or buttons.
Here is a link to a good picture.

Look at the the page on skirts. Its the full wrap one.
I wore my denim one in 70 mile an hour winds today, and no one saw a thing.
I will find the link on how to make one later on today.

Let me tell you, it's not easy to ride a burrow with a skirt on! But no one laughs no matter how silly you feel :) Glad you're going with us. It will be nice to have a friend along. Hope you're enjoying your time with your family. See you soon! :)

You have been in my thoughts lately, and I just wanted to say that we will be praying as you head off on this journey next month. May God bless your amazing sacrifices with this ministry.
