living legacy...

Today, on CNN's website, a little blurb about the lady who was world's oldest person.

MEMPHIS, Tennessee (AP) -- Elizabeth "Lizzie" Bolden, recognized as the world's oldest person, died early Monday, the administrator of the nursing home where she lived said Monday.
Bolden, born August 15, 1890, was 116. Guinness World Records recognized Bolden as the oldest person in August after the death of an Ecuadoran woman, who was previously listed as the oldest.
Family members said she had 40 grandchildren, 75 great-grandchildren, 150 great-great-grandchildren, 220 great-great-great grandchildren and 75 great-great-great-great grandchildren.

Okay, think about this...this lady had...560 people to buy for at Christmas!! Seriously though, what a legacy - 560 offspring. Last year at church, I heard about Jonathan Edwards family and how many preachers, ministers, physicians, etc. came from his family - it was astounding. What an impact an individual can have upon their family - for good or for bad. Each of us are tools that God can use to imprint our families with His character, or we are rascals who may set patterns of hurt for generations to come. I'm sure many of you are aware of the generational nature of blessing and cursing in Deuteronomy. Let's endeavour today to be a blessing to our future generations.

I actually read in the Commercial Appeal (Memphis paper) that she had 567 offspring (not 560 as previously reported)...but who is counting? cjt
