A bit in two days...

Well a bit has happened in two days. Yesterday, I participated in Memphis' 25th Annual Canoe-Kayak Race down the Mississippi River and placed 5th in my category (classified according to boat style and length). Not bad considering I hadn't been in my boat in nearly two years. It was a lot of fun and we hope to do it together next year. (see www.willarts.com for photos).

This morning (and evening) I played at church because the pianist was ill. I found out about an hour before we needed to be there. The Lord was gracious and it went pretty well. The sermon tonight was on Hosea 2 and 3 - the story of Hosea and his prostitute wife, Gomer. What an interesting picture God chose to represent the Lord and His love for His people. God's love seeks His own people even in their sin - their sin which marred them, damages others (2.3-13) and even "hurts" the heart of God. The goal of God for His people is their repentance and restoration (2.7, 14-15). Then in verse 19 of chapter two, taken literally it God says that will woo a virgin - He will fully forgive and forget even though they loved someone else and committed great sin...His forgiveness is greater. Wow. What a great God.

Anna had softball practice with our group from church this afternoon. I think she's going to be quite a slugger! If we have kids, I hope they'll get her softball skills! I'd like to make some of the games, but we'll have to see because of my schedule.

Good night and good luck.
